Jimmy Dean Williams. Last I heard he had moved to Florida. I believe that he died a while back but I am not sure. His son , Mike Williams lives in Pulaski. He was a character. I remember when he used to cook at the Elks when they were in their old building. Every Saturday the "guys" would take turns cooking the favorite meals. People could come and pay $2 , I think and eat lunch. Jimmy Dean and George Cave used to cook a lot.

Who had the secret ingredient of Ox tails in their soup?  Remember mom having to put it in our soup after dad bragged about how good it was.

Jimmy Dean Williams eventually became Cairo Police Chief.  He lived across the street from us at Walnut (MLK now) and 23rd Street.  He was good friends with my mom and dad.

That would have been Jimmy Dean. He always cooked soup and George Cave always made hot chilil. Both were fantastic.

Ah those were the days!  Do you ever remember anyone leaving the ELK's club back then getting a DUI?  Roll Eyes

What was it, back in the 60's Margaret Bagby taught many of the adults at the Elks how to ballroom dance?

I took ballroom dancing from her when I was in my teens. It was something to do and there were girls there. What can I say.  We use to like to play on the elavator. It was neat. It had the brass gate that you had to close manually. WOW that was a long time ago.  I hated to see the Elks move to the new building and I cant believe that the old building is still standing. The roof was short when they moved.
