Logan County Burgers
May 15th, 2009 at 12:58am

OK... I ripped this off from last week's People magazine. Probably not like the burgers that flew out of the famous Cairo Burger Wagon but, looks good!

LOGAN COUNTY BURGER
Serves 6
. 1 f b. ground beef (ASY" lean)
" 1 large egg, lightly beaten
. 1 medium yellow onion, half grated,
the other half thinly sliced
o /atsp.garlic powder
o 1 tsp. kosher salt
r 1 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
. 12 slices white bread
o 2 tbsp. unsalted butter, softened
. 12 slices American cheese

1. In a bowl, combine beef, egg,
grated onion, garlic powder, salt and
pepper. Form thin patties. Spread butter
on one side of each slice of bread.
2. Heat a large skillet over mediumhigh
heat. Cook the burgers about 5
minutes on each side. Drain on paper
towels. Drain grease from the skillet.
3. In the same skillet, place six slices
of bread, butter side down. Tcp each
with a slice of cheese, some onions and
a burger. Top with remaining slices of
cheese and bread, butter side up. Cook
each sandwich until golden brown,
about 2 minutes per side.

Otherwise.....

Get yourself a big ass package of ground round (hamburger to the layman). Hand form some 1/2 pound patties, slam them down on a hot grill. Let them sizzle for a few minutes, flip them over.. DO NOT PRESS THE JUICES OUT! I'm telling you DON'T!

When they are medium to well done, yank them off and top them with whatever suits your tastes! Hey.. IT'S BURGERS BABY! Go ahead and clog your arteries. You'll get to meet Jesus that much sooner!

Amen

yes, its been a very long time since I been here...
but, I lived in logan county for a long time and never heard of a logan county burger.  where would one purchase such?
dang, I'd sure go for a couple of hamburger wagon burgers, though!  and a bag of popcorn and one of those ice cold bottled cokes out of that big ole chest!
