For the past few months, Five County Vocational Systems has been offering a computer
course in Tamms entitled "Eliminating the Digital
Divide". The course is designed to allow
adult students to become more familiar with computers and their
various programs and applications, while allowing the students
to work at his/her own pace.
Some students sign-up for the class to receive assistance with
writing a resume, essay, or newsletter. Students can learn about
Microsoft Office or other computer software in order to meet a
job requirement or to just become better skilled for
today's job market.
Other students take the course in order to learn how to use
their computer better; for personal or entertainment purposes.
Students may want to learn how to use the internet, e-mail,
download or upload photographs, music, and files. This course can
help teach the skills needed to buy, sell or create a small
business on eBay.
Students may also be interested in learning about computerized
embroidery, a course offered once a week at the Tamms location.
The class teaches students how to use machines to embroider
designs and names on shirts, towels, and other items. The class
offers students the information that they need to make unique
items for family or customers.
We are still enrolling students for this course and would
enjoy the opportunity to work with you. The class size is small
and the environment is friendly. Students learn at their own
pace.
The embroidery class meets Fridays from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. We
currently offer computer classes on Tuesdays from 8:30 AM to
12:00 PM and from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM; and Thursday mornings from
8:30 AM to 11:30 AM.
We are working on a new spring schedule and welcome
suggestions on times that would be more convenient for you.
Please feel free to stop by the Tamms location or call us at
(618) 747-2703 and tell us what days and times would be more
convenient for you. Thank you and hope to see you in class!
